About Us | The inspiriation to open the salon came from Francine's volunteer work at the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter in Branford. Initially seeking to teach her youngest son, Joshua, the virtues of volunteerism, Francine became a fixture at the shelter beginning in 2004. There she gained a wealth of experience and became aware of how much she enjoyed working with pets. "The ability to improve the conditions of dogs' lives as well as their prospective owners', gives me great satisfaction,"said Francine. Francine and co-worker Lori are trained/certified by the Connecticut School of Dog Grooming. The 200-plus hours of formal training and numerous seminars in CPR, First-Aid, the latest grooming equipment, AKC breed standards and more added the finishing touch to the years of practical experience gained at the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter. Poochie's Parlor offers pet acessories in our well equipped shop but focuses on expert grooming and making the pet's experience as stress-free as possible. | |
